St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham – Thursday LIVE Organ Recital Online

April 8, 2021: 13:15 - 13:45

TL Social Media Banner 2019-20

David Saint and Paul Carr  play the JW Walker organ in St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham.
Thursday Live Organ recitals usually take place on the first Thursday in every month but are suspended currently due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile we are offering these short ‘as live’ videos as an alternative.
This recital has been released a week later than usual as it is a programme of music relating to Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Day, which we thought it more appropriate to release now than during Holy Week.

Alexandre Guilmant (1837 – 1911)
March upon Handel’s “Lift up Your Heads”

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)
Herzlich thut mich verlangen

Jean Langlais (1907–1991)
Incantation pour un jour Saint

Jean-François Dandrieu (1682-1738)
Offertoire pour le Jour de Pâques: “O filii et filiæ”

Marcel Dupré (1886–1971)
Choral et Fugue

Any proceeds from the series go towards the upkeep of the cathedral organ which, of course, still has to be maintained at this time.
If you would like to support us in this, there are two ways of doing so:

The first is to make an on-line donation: (between 1.30pm – 4.00pm on the first Thursday of the month):
1) Visit the Cathedral homepage www.stchadscathedral.org.uk
2) Click ‘Donate to your Cathedral’
3) Follow link to the diocesan website
4) Select ‘Make a single donation’
5) On ‘Payment Details’ page select the ‘Donating to’ drop down menu and choose ‘Birmingham: Cathedral’ On-line donations made between 1.30pm and 4.00pm (UK time) on the first Thursday of the month will be directed towards the series.

The second way to donate is to send a cheque, payable to ‘St Chad’s Cathedral Choir’ to: The Director of Music, St Chad’s Cathedral, Queensway, Birmingham, B4 6EU.
